Brian Kelly gets his third opportunity to defeat a Nick Saban-coached Alabama team.
His first two chances came as Notre Dame’s head coach, including a shot in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game to conclude the 2012 season. He got embarrassed both times, which led to his arrival to the Southeastern Conference and becoming the head coach for Louisiana State University. After a season-opening loss to Florida State, the Tigers are now 6-2 on the year.

LSU gets Alabama next week at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. The matchup may determine who represents the SEC West in the conference championship game. Coach Saban’s last defeat against LSU in “Death Valley” came in 2010, but he has recorded five straight victories since then. Kelly spoke in Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference and is excited about playing the Tide.
“Heck yeah,” Kelly said about his excitement to host Alabama next week. “That’s why I came to LSU. But there is more to come.”
Kelly wants revenge, but he also wants to show he can hang with Saban in the SEC.
