NFL staffer says this year’s Alabama team has a low ‘talent level’

Anonymous NFL scouts and coaches told ESPN’s senior college football writer Pete Thamel their thoughts on Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, who are currently fighting to make it to the SEC Championship.

The Crimson Tide are currently 7-1, and they control their own destiny. If Alabama wins out, it will represent the SEC West in the SEC Championship. One NFL staff member is not high on this year’s Alabama squad as he said this team has a low talent level.

“This is the lowest talent level that I’ve seen (at Bama),” the staffer said.

One NFL scout said he felt a loss by Georgia or another loss by Alabama would not surprise many.

“At this point, the way they are built, an Ohio State loss [in the regular season] would be more of a surprise than either Georgia losing or Alabama losing again,” an NFL scout told Thamel.

Alabama will take on LSU Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
