Following Alabama’s win over Ole Miss, head coach Nick Saban offered a few key updates on a pair of injured players during the game.
On the first play of the game, defensive back Eli Ricks had to be taken to the locker room following a collision in the secondary when trying to make a tackle. Ricks did not return to action but Saban shared that he is doing OK.
“Eli Ricks is OK,” Saban said. “I think his head is the issue. We haven’t been able to test him from a concussion protocol standpoint as of yet, but I saw him in the locker room and he was OK.”
Ricks was replaced by freshman defensive back Terrion Arnold who finished the game with 10 tackles.
On the offensive side of the ball, one of the biggest changes from the first half to the second half was the number of carries Jase McClellan got out of the backfield. Jahmyr Gibbs started the game for the Crimson Tide but didn’t see any work following halftime which posed a few questions.
Saban reported that Gibbs “twisted his ankle” which kept him off the field in the second half.
McClellan went on to have a huge second half for Alabama as he carried the ball 19 times for 84 yards while picking up some tough conversions.
