Bill O’Brien was not the coordinator Alabama fans wanted to be fired into the sun last week.

The Crimson Tide supporters were pleased with his play-calling on offense, albeit a little too late, but they were pleased.

Pete Golding, the Tide’s defensive coordinator, drew all the criticism against Auburn. Alabama’s defense allowed 318 yards rushing, including Robby Ashford (quarterback) and Jarquez Hunter (running back) both totaling 100+ yards. The Tigers’ running game kept it alive as the Tide failed to set the edge on defense. Golding did not make adjustments and players were overpursuing lanes. Auburn averaged 7.4 yards per rushing attempt, and Ashford rushed for two scores in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Tide gave up 27 points in a 49-27 victory, but its fans want Golding out of the program.

He has been with the Crimson Tide since 2018, and the primary defensive coordinator since 2019.
