Alabama quarterback Bryce Young won’t have the opportunity to defend his Heisman Trophy victory from 2021, as he was not amongst the four finalists named Monday night.
Excluding Young, the 2022 Heisman finalists will be decided between Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, TCU quarterback Max Duggan, USC quarterback Caleb Williams and Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett.

What would have already been an uphill battle to repeat as the winner this season, there were a number of contributing factors that likely led to Young not being invited back to New York.
First off, the Crimson Tide’s team success was considered to be a disappointment considering the preseason hype around the team.
Young’s numbers also took a dip from last season as he struggled to get in sync with the offense while also being hampered by a shoulder injury on his throwing arm which affected his play at times.
This now officially breaks Alabama’s streak of Heisman Trophy winners after Young and former Crimson Tide receiver DeVonta Smith won back-to-back trophies.
