Trent Seaborn captured the attention of many when he made national headlines by leading Thompson High School to a win in the Alabama class 7A State Championship game as an eighth grader.
Seaborn threw for 207 yards and five touchdowns in Thompson’s win over Auburn in the state championship game. A few things have changed for Seaborn since his memorable performance. The eighth grader now holds multiple D1 offers, but he gives credit to his teammates after putting up big numbers in the big game.
“It was pretty amazing, just that brotherhood with all of us going into the biggest game of the year,” Seaborn told Touchdown Alabama. “It was a great experience to be with the guys, making that bond, that relationship, and then just performing well throughout the game. We just executed perfectly, and I could not have asked for a better team, better coaches, better players. It was amazing.”
Marshall offered the Thompson quarterback a few days after the Warriors’ championship win. At 5-foot-11 and approximately 170 pounds, Seaborn turned heads with his impressive ball placement and pocket presence during the 2022 football season. He said he feels his biggest strength is his ability to diagnose defenses.
“I study a lot of film in my free time, get with a lot of coaches to study film with my dad,” said Seaborn. “I have gotten pretty good at deciphering defenses and how to break them down. I would say for my age, I think I have a pretty good arm strength. I can make most throws. Obviously, I always need to work on something.”
Seaborn is already back in the lab in preparation for more success in the future.

With multiple offers in hand, Seaborn knows he must continue to improve if he wants to take advantage of those opportunities in the future.
“It is really a blessing to have those offers,” said Seaborn. “It is really cool to have coaches looking so far down as my age or my grade, but I think that it’s just something you think about and it’s something you hold onto, but in the end, you just got to keep working to where it’s actually a committable offer.”

Coaching staffs across the country are likely looking into Seaborn. He is open to being recruited by any school, including all of the in-state programs.
“I would say Alabama, a lot of Alabama schools, Troy, UAB,” Seaborn said. “I am really interested in Texas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, a lot of the air-raid offenses.”
