Wilkin Formby will move in at the University of Alabama this week, and he will have an opportunity to experience the Crimson Tide’s Sugar Bowl prep.
Formby is one of the Crimson Tide’s five 2023 offensive linemen commits. The Tuscaloosa native is also considered to be one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the nation. He said he feels blessed to be able to start practicing with Alabama this early.
“I am ecstatic,” Formby told Touchdown Alabama. “I can’t wait. I’m super thankful for everything God has done for me in giving me this wonderful opportunity, especially to go ahead and start practice and kind of try to hit the ground running.”
Formby chose Alabama over Ole Miss, Tennessee others in June. His early decision gave him an opportunity to enjoy his senior season to the fullest.
“It just felt like so much pressure off my back,” Formby said. “It kind of felt good to focus on a school instead of having to worry about like all these other schools. I just focused on Alabama and what I can do to contribute to them in the future.”
The soon-to-be Alabama offensive lineman has watched Alabama closely this season, observing the ups and downs, and he has an interesting perspective on it.
“For Alabama, honestly like this is a season where everyone is like so disappointed,” said Formby. “Then you are just looking at teams like Tennessee who are having like awesome years, but the record is the same. So, that goes to show like how it really is not the standard that we want at Alabama, but I mean it is definitely not a terrible season. Like people are being very dramatic with that. I don’t think that’s necessary to say. I mean there were definitely some things that they wanted to finish more in the games, like towards the end of games and some regret there. But I think in the end, it’s not necessarily all bad to have a season like that.”
