Alabama fans have already expressed their excitement in their reactions to quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson opting to play in the Sugar Bowl.
But this week, during early media availability Kansas State head coach Chris Kleiman and a few players shared their own reactions to the two Crimson Tide stars decisions.
Kleiman shared that even with Young and Anderson opting to play, it hasn’t changed much of the gameplan that has been set for Nick Saban’s squad.
“No, it really doesn’t (changed the team),” Klieman said. “It’s great for college football that the best players are going to play in this game. We have a handful of those guys as well that have elected to play in this game.
“And that’s what it’s about. It’s playing with your brothers one last time for the guys that are going onto the next level. And I think that’s really important for out game in general.”
Kansas State lineman Cooper Beebe expressed that the game will now have no excuses for whatever the outcome should be.
“Very exciting. Like you said, ‘Good against good.’ No excuses,” BeeBe said. “Our players set out and we are ready for the challenge, and we are glad they are playing. It makes it more competitive. It is going to be a fun game.”
Kansas State defensive end Felix Anudike-Umozah gave his own reasoning as to why he believes Young and Anderson chose to remain with the team through the Sugar Bowl.
“They come to play and we come to play, they give their best guys and give our best guys,” Anudike-Umozah said. “It’s going to be a good match up. It’s exciting. It’s an honor to play a New Year’s six bowl, so I think that’s why everyone is playing.”
Alabama is set to kickoff against Kansas State at 11 a.m. CT on Dec. 31.
