Former Southern Miss’ defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong is expected to join Alabama’s coaching staff as a position’s coach, according to ESPN’s Chris Low.
However, his official position has not been revealed.
Former Southern Miss DC Austin Armstrong is joining @AlabamaFTBL’s defensive staff as a position coach and is already on campus, sources tell ESPN. He will take the spot vacated when Charles Kelly left for Colorado. @JohnDBrice1 first reported Armstrong was a strong candidate.

The Crimson Tide’s former safeties’ coach Charles Kelly joined Colorado staff as its defensive coordinator. Armstrong was the youngest defensive coordinator in the country last season for the Golden Eagles. He previously worked at Louisiana Lafayette and Georgia.
