A former Alabama quarterback is heading to Super Bowl 57.
Jalen Hurts got selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. In two years as a starter, he is taking the franchise to a Super Bowl. Hurts lifted the Eagles to a 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. He completed 15 of 25 passes for 121 yards and totaled a rushing touchdown.
As a finalist for NFL’s Most Valuable Player and Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year, Hurts controlled the pace of the game and made clutch passes when needed. He protected the ball against a physical defense, putting Philadelphia in position to close the game. Hurts was doubted upon entering the league, but the native Texan in now a star.
He helped the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017, but now he eyes being a champion in the pros.
Philadelphia will play the winner of Kansas City versus Cincinnati at State Farm Stadium (Glendale, Ariz.) on Feb. 12 for the Super Bowl.
