Alabama offers Spain Park 6-foot-6 edge-rusher Jared Smith

Jared Smith earned an offer from Alabama Monday, adding impressive list of offers.

Smith is a product of Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama. He garners a four-star rating from most recruiting sites, and he is projected to be in the discussion for a five-star rating.

More than 15 D1 programs have offered Smith, including Georgia, Florida and Texas.

The Spain Park product told Touchdown Alabama he felt motivated to remain humble after earning an offer from the Crimson Tide.

“I was excited,” Smith said. “I am blessed, but at the same time, I know a lot of kids want what I have, so just have to stay humble and stay hungry.”

Smith went on to give his thoughts about the Alabama football program as a whole.

“The culture they have of winning,” Smith told Touchdown Alabama when asked what stands out about Alabama. “They take pride in everything they do. They have a swagger about them.”

At 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, Smith has the typical length Alabama loves to go after at the outside linebacker position. The new Alabama target is only a sophomore, but he has a couple of different rush moves in his bag already.

Smith has shown an ability to beat offensive tackles off the edge in a variety of ways.

The four-star recruit wants to work on having a bigger impact on the game in the future.

“I want to improve my playmaking abilities, sprinting to the ball, off the ball and just causing chaos on the field,” said Smith.
