The National Football League and Alabama fans are excited for the Houston Texans.

Houston returned a former player to become a head coach as it hired DeMeco Ryans to a six-year deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Ryans, and the former defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers is ready to work.

He will conduct his first NFL Draft in April as a head coach. Ryans, a native of Bessemer, Ala., has an opportunity to select quarterback Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick. The Chicago Bears, who finished 2022 at 3-14, earned the first pick but decided to trade it. Ryans was a decorative, All-American linebacker at the University of Alabama, and Crimson Tide fans are putting together a dream scenario of him and Young. Houston has a starting quarterback (Davis Mills), but it can restart its franchise with a new coach and a new triggerman. The Texans have an ex-Tide receiver, John Metchie, who played with Young.

Metchie caught a team-high 96 passes from Young in 2021 for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns.

Houston is on the clock, but we will see if Young is the decision.
