6-foot-6 2025 DE Malik Autry explains decision to commit to Auburn

Malik Autry announced his verbal commitment to Auburn Wednesday, accomplishing a childhood dream.

Autry attends Opelika High School in Opelika, Alabama, and he is the first 2025 recruit to verbally commit to the Tigers.

The sophomore feels there is something brewing at Auburn.

“Auburn has something going for themselves people can not see yet,” Autry told Touchdown Alabama. “I have been an Auburn fan since I came out of the womb. The opportunity to play for them and help the program is undeniable. They have great facilities now and better coaches. This program only has one way to go and it is up.”

Autry had seven D1 offers before committing to Auburn, including offers from Georgia and Kentucky. The genuine feeling Autry got from the Tigers’ staff separated Auburn.

“All the staff is super genuine and real, feels like you are a part of the family as soon as you come in.,” Autry said. “They are the type of people that treat you as if you are one of their kids. Coach Williams was the first person to come up to me and take me through the whole place. Coach Garrett gave me a big hug as soon as he saw me, loved him.”

At 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds, Autry is a massive defensive lineman, who helps plug up holes for Opelika during the 2022 football season. He moves well in space and has a quick twitch to him.
