He is now Alabama’s offensive coordinator, but one individual is happy to see Tommy Rees out of Notre Dame.
Tim Brown, a Fighting Irish alum and College Football Hall of Fame member, ripped Rees’ playcalling stating it was “predictable.” Brown played wide receiver at Notre Dame from 1984 to 1987, winning the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award, and Sporting News Player of the Year. He earned each honor in 1987 and became a Unanimous All-American.

Rees, 30, developed Ian Book to become an NFL Draft pick as a quarterback. He took a transfer quarterback, Jack Coan, and helped him produce his best season with the Irish. Notre Dame had a successful run game with Rees, and he was able to execute a balanced attack. His offenses guided the Irish to the College Football Playoff in the 2018 and 2020 seasons.

Brown is excited to have him out of South Bend, but Nick Saban is ready to work with Rees.
