Nick Saban said he told Jalen Hurts to go to Oklahoma when he was considering different transfer destinations during a recent interview.
Hurts played at Alabama from 2016 to 2018. He was 26-2 as a starter for the Crimson Tide. He decided to transfer when he graduated from UA and Tua Tagovailoa took over as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback. Saban told Hurts he felt Oklahoma was the best place for him.
“When he wanted to transfer, I said who has the best player?” Saban said during interview the 33rd Team. “He wanted to go to Maryland or Miami. I said, you need to go to Oklahoma. They got the best coach to develop you as a quarterback and you are going to be around the best players, so that is going to enhance your chances of having success. He did that. He had a great year. I was worried about having to play him in the playoffs.”
