Alabama WR Ja’Corey Brooks looking to take next step in 2023

Alabama wide receiver, Ja’Corey Brooks has the chance to be the team’s go-to pass catcher for the 2023 season.

The soon-to-be junior wideout posted a hype video to Twitter Tuesday and seems to be excited about the opportunity he has in front of him.

Brooks arrived at Alabama in 2021 as a four-star recruit out of IMG Academy. It took some time for him to see the field playing behind Jameson Williams and John Metchie who each had over 1,000 yards, but still, he worked his way into the lineup. He caught 15 balls, for 192 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a solid 12.8 yards a catch.

In the 2021 season, he was most famous for his game-tieing touchdown catch in the Iron Bowl with 27 seconds left in regulation. This touchdown sparked the offense, and the team went on to win a nail bitter in Jordan Hare after four overtime periods.

This year without Williams and Metchie leading the way, he started every game and his numbers skyrocketed. Brooks finished the year with 674 yards and eight touchdowns, coming up big in several instances. Despite wide receivers Christian Leary, Traeshon Holden, Agiye Hall, and Jojo Earle, transferring out the past couple of seasons, Brooks trusted the process and stuck around.

There’s uncertainty at the quarterback position, but whoever is selected to be the starter can count on Brooks.
