The Alabama brotherhood run strong in the NFL even if players didn’t run out of Bryant-Denny Stadium’s tunnel in the same era.
Heisman Trophy-winning running back Mark Ingram gave a glowing example of how each Crimson Tide alum takes pride in one another.
Ingram made an appearance on NFL Network this week and heaped praise on Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Smith, who is also a Heisman Trophy winner while at Alabama, is due to play in the Super Bowl on Sunday and has proven to be one of the most exciting young receivers in the league.
“My Roll Tide dog. He is big game ready. He’s been built for this,” Ingram said. “Devonta Smith. Mr. Heisman, aka the ‘Slim Reaper.’ He’s been doing this since (he was) a true freshman, 2nd and 26 walk-off TD in the national championship. Won the Heisman Trophy, this year 95 receptions, 1196 yards and seven TDs all career highs. He is big game ready and he’s gonna ball in the Super Bowl. Roll Tide baby.”
