Buford sophomore RB Justin Baker feels Alabama develops dominant backs

Fres

Alabama football is continuing its push to add players from Buford High School to its roster by offering Justin Baker.

Baker is a sophomore at Buford in Georgia. He now holds 16 offers after picking up recent offers from Alabama, Colorado and Tennessee.

January was a big month in Baker’s recruitment as his offer list doubled. He picked up eight of his 16 D1 offers last month. Baker’s offer from Alabama came from the Crimson Tide’s running back coach Robert Gillespie.

“It is a blessing and an honor for them to reach out and offer,” Baker said when discussing his offer from Alabama. “It has a rich tradition in developing players to become the best they can be and going on to play at the next level and dominate, especially at my position.”

Alabama has signed three players from Buford over the last two recruiting cycles. Justice Haynes, a five-star running back, played at Buford as a senior and signed with Alabama during the 2023 recruiting cycle. Baker said he enjoyed sharing the backfield with the Alabama freshman during the 2022 football season, and he is looking to carry the things he learned by watching Haynes into next season.

“Having Justice at Buford was no doubt a great learning opportunity for me,” said Baker. “He was a real big brother to me. We had each others backs on the field. Going to battle with him in the toughest classification in Georgia has taught me so much. Hard work is the standard at Buford and this year, we have some unfinished business.”

Baker is listed at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds. He runs the football with toughness and tenacity.
