Alabama offers versatile Theodore defender Cameron Pruitt

Theodore High School’s junior defender, Cameron Pruitt earned an offer from Alabama Friday, continuing his hot streak on the recruiting trail.

Pruitt is a 2024 recruit with more than 25 Division 1 offers. His fast rise on the recruiting front will take him from not being rated on any of the major recruiting sites to most likely a four-star at worst in the coming months.

January was an absolutely huge month on the recruiting trail for Pruitt. 19 of his offers were extended last month. Alabama’s new defensive coaching hire, Austin Armstrong, helped Alabama become the first program to offer Pruitt this month by informing the Mobile product of his offer.

Pruitt spoke highly of the Crimson Tide after speaking with Armstrong.

“It is a good program with good coaches,” Pruitt said. “They are going to grind and work hard.”

The Theodore product also gave his thoughts on Nick Saban.

“He is a good man to be around,” Pruitt said. “He is very smart, and he will always push you to your maximum potential.”

Alabama’s four-star linebacker commit, Sterling Dixon is Pruitt’s cousin. The pair grew up together in the little league ranks, and Pruitt feels it would be special to play with Dixon at the next level.

“It will mean a lot.”  said Pruitt. “We dreamed about this, but I got to see if Alabama is the best fit for me.”

Armstrong told Pruitt he liked how ‘physical’ he is and the fact he can ‘play multiple positions.’

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Pruitt plays a physical brand of football. He always looking to make a big hit and deliver the boom. He made plays at all three levels on defense during the 2022 football season.
