Spanish Fort’s junior edge-rusher, Cole McConathy is starting to collect power five offers after a dominant junior season.
McConathy is a member of the 2024 recruiting class, and he is one of the emerging prospects in the state of Alabama. His offer total is up to twelve after recent offers from Missouri, Pitt, Wake Forest, Kansas State and Georgia State.
The Tigers became the first SEC program to offer McConathy late last month. The Mobile product said his recent offers make him feel like he is doing the right thing.
“It feels great to know you are on the right path and your hard work is paying off,” McConathy told Touchdown Alabama. “It lets you know you need to keep doing what you are doing and work hard.”
Visits to Missouri and Vanderbilt are in the works for McConathy. He has also had contact with Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and other schools. McConathy feels an offer from the Crimson Tide would be a big one for him.
“That would mean a lot to me,” said McConathy. “That would mean a lot to me and my family. I think Alabama is an amazing school and program. It is something I would want to be a part of.”
At 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, McConathy was disruptive off the edge as a junior. He was explosive off the snap and destroyed quarterbacks once he got home. The 2024 recruit feels his get-off is one of his best attributes at the moment, but he wants to improve his feel of the game.
“I definitely want to improve on my overall knowing of the game and game awareness, being able to make more and more plays. Our team goal this year is nothing short of the state championship, and it is going to take everything to get that. I got to prove myself as much as possible, get stronger in the weight room, more explosive, bigger, faster and stronger.”
