Alabama football announced the hiring of Tommy Rees, Kevin Steele and Austin Armstrong Monday, and Nick Saban likes what this group of coaches bring to the table.
Rees will serve as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks’ coach, Steele will be the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator and Austin Armstrong will coach inside linebackers. Saban feels this group of coaches bring energy, enthusiasm and experience to the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff.
“We are excited to bring in such a gifted group of coaches to develop our players both on and off the field,” Saban said. “Kevin, Tommy and Austin have a great mix of energy, enthusiasm and experience that will be a tremendous asset to our program. They are all excellent teachers of the game and fantastic recruiters who bring a wealth of experience and resources to our staff.”
Alabama lost both its offensive and defensive coordinators after last season. Golding moved on to be Ole Miss’ defensive coordinator and Bill O’Brien returned to the NFL to be the Patriots’ offensive coordinator.
