Alabama football recently updated its football roster and listed multiple members of its 2022 recruiting class as redshirt freshmen.
Players who redshirt postpone eligibility to play football for an extra year. The NCAA allows college football players to play up to four games and take a redshirt. 15 members of the Tide’s 2022 recruiting class will be redshirt freshmen next season.
The most notable one is Ty Simpson as he is expected to compete for Alabama’s starting quarterback job next season.
Simpson played in four games for the Crimson Tide as a true freshman. He completed four passes for 35 yards.
Antonio Kite, Shazz Preston, Earl Little, Jake Pope, Tre’Quon Fegans, Jeremiah Alexander, Shawn Murphy, Jax Porter, Veto Perri, Elijah Pritchett, Elijah Brown, Danny Lewis, Khurtiss Perry and Isaiah Hastings will also be redshirt freshmen.
