Alabama football enrolled a good portion of its 2023 recruiting class in January.
Each of the Crimson Tide’s early enrollees will participate in the Crimson Tide’s full off-season program. Touchdown Alabama will highlight each of Alabama’s newest additions over the next few weeks in an article series.
We continue our series with Florida speedster, Jaren Hamilton.
Jaren Hamilton
-Classification: Freshman
–Position: Wide Receiver
-Hometown: Gainesville, Florida
-Height: 6-1
-Weight: 188 pounds
–Summary : Hamilton was a hidden gem when Alabama went after him really hard after he had a great camp performance in Tuscaloosa ahead of his senior season.
The Florida native did not have the highly publicized recruitment some of his now teammates had. He ended his recruitment with less than 20 offers, but the Crimson Tide are extremely happy he chose to come to Tuscaloosa.
At 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds, Hamilton has a solid and muscular frame. He will be one of the fastest wide receivers on Alabama’s roster this upcoming season with his impressive track background. The Alabama freshman took home a few gold medals as a junior Olympian before opting to focus solely on football.
Hamilton’s acceleration ability makes him a threat to create separation off the line of scrimmage as he can quickly get up to top speed. He is a tough route runner, who uses his strong frame to compete against physical defensive backs. He can be dangerous after the catch as he fights to break through tackles with his lower and upper body strength. His speed makes him even scarier after the catch.
Alabama has had young wide receivers step up in the past. Will Hamilton be next?
