Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch gave his top five running backs in the NFL Thursday on the “I Am Athlete podcast” and included three former Alabama running backs.
Of the five players on the list, three played at Alabama. Lynch had Najee Harris , Derrick Henry and Josh Jacobs at in his top five. Lynch, nicknamed “beast mode,” played in the league for twelve seasons and certainly knows what it takes to be successful at the position. Harris, Henry, and Jacobs like Lynch, do not shy away from contact when they touch the ball.
Not many people knew how Harris would top his 1,229-yard 10-touchdown rookie year, but he matched that in year two and also added an additional 238 yards. As for Jacobs, the Las Vegas Raiders declined to pick up his fifth-year option and he went on to have the best season of his career, totaling over 2,000 yards and winning the NFL’s rushing title. Henry won the rushing title in 2019 and 2020 but had his 2021 season cut short due to foot surgery. In 2022 he picked back up where he left off with his fourth 1,000-yard season.
