Tyanhony Smith visited Alabama Saturday for the first time since picking up an offer from Alabama last month.
Smith is a product of Jasper High School in Jasper, Texas, and he garners a four-star rating from most recruiting sites. He holds more than 20 offers, including recent offers from Notre Dame and Louisiana Lafayette.
The 2024 recruit said he enjoyed getting back to Tuscaloosa and really liked the honesty he received from the Crimson Tide’s staff.
”Really just how humble and straightforward they are,” said Smith when asked what stood out about the visit. “I felt the love there, and I loved it.”
Nick Saban and Alabama’s outside linebacker coach Coleman Hutzler met Smith when he camped at Alabama last summer. Saturday gave him an opportunity to catch up with Saban
“I’ve already met him before, and I was just kind of meeting him again, saying hello,” said Smith. “He got more info on me, so that is good. He kind of just checked in on me.”
Smith plans to visit USC soon. He wants to take official visits in the summer, and he hopes to make a decision in the fall.
“I should be closing down my recruitment in August,” said Smith
The Alabama target does not know which schools he wants to officially visit at the moment, but he feels Alabama is one of his top schools.
“They’re definitely in my top five if I had one,” Smith said.
At 6-foot-2 and approximately 190 pounds, Smith can play sideline to sideline and moves well in space. He is also comfortable dropping back in coverage as a linebacker.
