Central Phenix City High School has produced some talented wide receivers in recent years, and Daylyn Upshaw is next up.
Upshaw is a sophomore, who already has offers from Auburn and Texas.
Upshaw’s first offer came from Texas in January. Auburn followed suit with an offer Friday. The 2025 recruit said he feels grateful his recruitment is starting to grow.
“It feels very good that my hard work has been paying off,” Upshaw told Touchdown Alabama.
At 6-foot and 175 pounds, Upshaw shows great promise at the wide receiver position. He explodes out of his release at the line of scrimmage, can adjust to the football in the air and go up and snag it at its highest point with a nice vertical. The sophomore was able to make plays down the field during the 2022 football season with his ability to accelerate by defensive backs and get behind the defense.
Upshaw is still growing as a route runner, but he has flashed an ability to be special in the area in the future. He has also shown promise after the catch and college coaches like what they have seen from the sophomore.
“My ability to hold on to the football in traffic and get out of my breaks very fast,” Upshaw said when asked what college coaches like about him.
