Nick Saban appeared to give his thoughts on Anthony Richardson, Will Levis and Bryce Young during a recent episode of Stephen A Smith’s “Know Mercy” podcast.

Richardson played for the Florida Gators from 2020 to 2022. He finished his college career with 3,205 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing scores. The Gainesville, Florida native turned heads at the NFL Combine when he ran a 4.43 forty and set combine records for a quarterback with his 40 ½-inch vertical leap and 10-9 broad jump.

Levis played for Kentucky during the 2021 and 2022 football seasons after transferring from Penn State. He threw for 5,232 and 43 touchdowns as a Wildcat.

Saban gave his thoughts on Young while appearing to take a shot at Levis or Richardson Wednesday by mentioning their measurements without mentioning their names.

“We’ve all seen the 6-4, 225-pound guy that can throw it like a bazooka, but he can’t make the choices and decisions, he can’t distribute the ball, he can’t throw it accurately,” Saban said. “So who’s the better bet? I’m going on history, production, performance and Bryce Young’s done it about as well as anybody.”

While Saban didn’t mention Richardson or Levis specifically, both quarterbacks have underperformed their final collegiate year only to be praised for their stature and arm strength. There are a host of other quarterbacks historically who fit this same criteria who failed to live up to expectations.

Young played for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2020 to 2022, throwing for 80 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He won the Heisman Trophy after the 2021 football season.

Young, Levis and Richardson will both continue to be talked about a lot ahead of the NFL Draft.
