Montgomery has dropped 42 pounds, according to one of his high school coaches, Bradley Ball. The Anniston product enrolled at the University of Alabama in December and worked out with the Crimson Tide in preparation for their bowl game against Kansas State in the Sugar Bowl. He was rated as a four-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
The former four-star recently revealed he will go by Roq Montgomery after being listed as Ryqueze McElderry throughout his high school career.
