Jalen Milroe appears to fire back at Texas governor Greg Abbott in Instagram post

Jalen Milroe (#2) runs the ball for Alabama in 2021 game versus Southern Mississippi

Alabama quarterback, Jalen Milroe posted to Instagram, quoting a Bible verse from Luke 23:3: “Lord, forgive them, they know not what they do” after a recent statement from Texas Governor Greg Abbott, which appeared to be directed to Milroe.

Milroe had to put up with the following comments made by the governor of his home state last week.

“I have seen what appears to be Alabama’s starting quarterback, and he’s no Bryce Young,” said Abbot. “So I’m gonna say it’s gonna be 27-21 Texas Longhorns.”

Although Milroe has yet to be named as the starting quarterback for Alabama in 2023, he will be in contention for the position and will likely be battling against red-shirt freshman Ty Simpson.

This year the College Football National Championship will be played in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium. Milroe will have an opportunity to lead the Tide to a title and silence all of the outside media noise in the state where he grew up.

As of now, Alabama has +550 odds to win the National Championship, and Milroe is +600 to win the Heisman Trophy, according to FanDuel.
