DeVonta Smith to host second annual softball tournament

DeVonta Smith hits a home run with celebrity softball game in the Philadelphia community

When he’s not catching touchdowns for the Philadelphia Eagles offense, former Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith is hosting celebrity softball games. Smith announced Monday he will be having his second annual “DeVonta Smith & Friends Celebrity Softball Game” on June 10.

The game will take place at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The gates will open at 12:00 pm, and there will be several festivities to keep people busy before the action starts at 2:00 pm with a Home Run Derby competition. Following the Home Run Derby will be the first pitch of the Celebrity Softball Game at 3:00 pm.

Last year’s event featured several former Alabama players such as Mack Wilson, Najee Harris, Patrick Surtain II, Jaylen Waddle, and Smith’s quarterback Jalen Hurts. Similar to the 2018 SEC Championship, Hurts delivered clutch in crunch time, hitting a walk-off home run to win the game 13-12 for team Smith.

Tickets range from $15-75 and can be purchased at devontasmithsoftball.com where you can also find highlights from last year’s event.
