He checked every box for NFL teams with his game tape and NFL Combine performance.

Will Anderson cheered on his Alabama teammates in Thursday’s pro day as the projected top-five draft pick is looking forward to his future in the league. He has not scheduled any new meetings with pro teams, but Anderson has met with one organization. The Houston Texans have a head coach that is a former University of Alabama standout.

DeMeco Ryans played linebacker for the Texans, rose up the coaching rankings as a defensive assistant for the 49ers, and coordinated one of the best defenses in the NFL for the last two years. He’s earned the opportunity to be a head coach, and now he enters his first NFL Draft. Ryans likes Bryce Young, but should he look at a defensive player with his first pick since several teams are desperate for a quarterback? Anderson raved about Ryans and his time with the Texans at Pro Day.

“It went really well,” Anderson said about his visit with the Texans. “DeMeco Ryans is a great guy. The coaching staff is great, and all the players are great. I had a chance to catch up with John Metchie and Christian Harris. They had a lot of great things to say about the program.”

Metchie and Harris witnessed Anderson explode onto the scene as a freshman in 2020 at Alabama. Anderson said the coaching staff for Houston went over some plays with him. We shall see if the Texans get arguably the most dominant defensive player in college football at No. 2 overall in the draft.
