Jakob Gude returned to Alabama for a multiple-day visit earlier this week.
Gude is one of the nation’s top defensive back prospects. He holds more than 15 D1 offers and has Alabama, Florida, Louisville, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, UCF, Arkansas, Texas, Oregon and Texas A&M in his top 10.
The 2024 recruit picked up an offer from Alabama in January on Junior Day. He returned to Tuscaloosa this week to get a better look at the Crimson Tide.
“It was great,” Gude told Touchdown Alabama about the vist. “I got to watch practice, tour the campus and meet with Nick Saban.”
Alabama’s Monday practice really caught his eye.
“I loved how they practice,” said Gude. “There is nobody sitting and watching. It was very productive and intense. I also love how Saban is so hands-on with the defensive backs.”
Gude does not have a recruitment timeline in mind at the moment, but he feels the Tide are among the top programs involved.
“They are a top three for sure,” Gude said.
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Gude made multiple plays on the defensive side of the football for Sandy Creek High School en route to a state championship. He was a physical tackler, who was always around the football. He showed the type of playmaking ability that should help him work his way to near the top of Alabama’s defensive back recruiting board.
The Georgia product plays physical, fast and with a confidence level that jumps out on film.
