Alabama football’s linebacker commit, Sterling Dixon is feeling the heat from the Auburn Tigers.
Dixon is a four-star recruit out of Mobile Christian School, and he is one of the Crimson Tide’s four 2024 commits. He chose the Tide over Auburn and LSU. Hugh Freeze was named the head coach at Auburn a few weeks before Dixon announced his decision.
The new Auburn head coach is now making sure Dixon knows he is wanted on the plains.
“Honestly with coach Freeze, we keep in touch pretty much every day,” Dixon told Touchdown Alabama. “He is trying to make sure he tries to get me to come to Auburn, but I’m still committed to Alabama. That is really about it. They really communicate with me every day and that’s it.”
Alabama hosted Dixon Friday, and he had an opportunity to catch up with the Tide’s new inside linebacker coach Robert Bala. The pair connected and hot
“It was different because the last time when I went there, Coach Armstrong was there,” Dixon said. “That’s who I was building a relationship and stuff with. He ended up leaving. I didn’t really know coach Bala like that. The main thing on this visit was me getting up there, and I got down there, I sat down and talked ball with him. He was a cool guy, and I love him.”
Dixon was a force on the defensive side of the football last season, finishing the year with 172 tackles and 18 sacks. He wants to show more versatility this season and show flashes of what LSU hub d linebacker, Harold Perkins, did for the Tigers last season.
“This year, I want to show that I can play inside linebacker,” Dixon said.” I’m trying to be like a Perkins type of player. I want to come off the edge a little bit, play inside and cover.”
