Alabama football is missing one of its inside linebackers in spring practice.
Deontae Lawson, a redshirt sophomore, is out because he’s recovering from surgery. Nick Saban alerted reporters on Lawson after the first practice for the Crimson Tide. As a native of Mobile, Ala., Lawson came as a four-star in 2021. He earned playing time in 11 games, including four starts in 2022. He served as a backup weakside “Will” linebacker next to Henry To’oto’o.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder had 51 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and four pass breakups. Lawson appears to be anxious to return to the field. His latest post to Twitter included two praying hands, two hour glasses with sand, and two faces with a look of triumph.
