During an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show earlier this week, Georgia beat reporter Mike Griffith shared his belief that Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has replaced Nick Saban as the top coach in college football.
To no surprise, his comments made waves in the Crimson Tide community with many taking to social media to share their thoughts on the take.
Below are a few reactions to Griffith’s comments:
Saban was out coached in a few games last year (Tenn, LSU, Texas, A&M) and it was glaring. We only covered the spread once as the favorite, and rarely made positive adjustments. The coordinators didn’t help either.
I hate to say it, but it’s true.

To borrow a tag line from Lee Corso, #NotSoFast
I've got an idea 💡
Let's play the games this year to test that theory.#RollTide🏈

When Kirby triples that number and equals 6 give Nick a call

Yes, they've won two in a row, and they earned it, but they were oh so close to having none. We dropped too many passes two years ago. The OSU game could easily have been lost. But they weren't. Great teams make plays.

Ask Kirby, he will say it’s Nick Saban

No not yet. Saban is on his 9th OC and several DC and has overcome. Until Kirby goes through that many changes and stays on top IMO he is still below Saban
