Jameson Williams will once again be sidelined at the start of the season.
It was reported by Ian Rapoport, that Williams is one of five players suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s gambling policy. Williams’ suspension will last for the first six games of the regular season but will be able to participate in offseason workouts and training camp.

In a release from the NFL, the league specifically noted the gambling policy and shared that no evidence was found of inside information being used by the players to compromise any games.
“The gambling policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, including players, prohibits anyone in the NFL from engaging in any form of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility.
“A league review uncovered no evidence indicating any inside information was used or that any game was compromised in any way.”
Another former Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley is coming off a season-long suspension himself for violating the league’s gambling policy.
This is not the start to his career which Williams or the Lions had hoped for when selecting him with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Williams missed the first 11 games of his rookie recovering from a knee injury from Alabama’s national championship loss to Georgia.
Williams recorded one reception for 41 yards and a touchdown along with one 40-yard rush on the season.
