Alabama fans may have a defense to be proud of for the first time since 2017.
Kevin Steele, the Crimson Tide’s new defensive coordinator, had supporters noticing the new energy and attitude his group played with during A-Day. Tide fans saw players flying to the ball, making crisp tackles, pressuring quarterbacks, dropping running backs behind the line of scrimmage, and forcing turnovers. Both defenses — Crimson and White — played with confidence, discipline, and controlled aggression. Malachi Moore, a senior defensive back, earned the Dixie Howell Memorial Award for Most Valuable Player. He guided the Crimson defense with nine total tackles, including three for loss and three sacks.

He also posted a pass breakup and a quarterback pressure. Moore’s efforts helped Crimson to a 30-21 victory over White and a steak dinner. He enjoyed his steak, but Moore is overjoyed about the defensive mantra Alabama has.
Moore unveiled on Twitter what Steele is teaching the group.
