He has some players in Thursday’s NFL Draft, but Marcus Freeman weighed in on a former Notre Dame quarterback that committed to the University of Alabama via the NCAA transfer portal.
Freeman, 37, is the head coach of the Fighting Irish. Tyler Buchner, a former four-star in the 2021 class, played in 13 games during his time at Notre Dame. As a California native, Buchner recorded five touchdowns and three interceptions in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl versus South Carolina to finish the 2022 season. He pushed Notre Dame to a 45-38 victory, ending its season at 9-4.

Buchner announced on Twitter that’s he coming to the Crimson Tide. Freeman weighed in on his former quarterback’s move.

“We love Tyler,” Freeman said to Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network. “I wish him the best. When he made his decision to go into the portal, I told him ‘I am always a fan of yours.’ I look forward to seeing the success he has at his next program.”
Buchner is in a quarterback room with Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan, and Eli Holstein.
