Alabama football has its tenth player taken in the NFL Draft.
DeMarcco Hellams, a former Crimson Tide safety, got selected at No. 224 overall (seventh round) by the Atlanta Falcons.
As a Washington D.C. native, Hellams led the Tide for total tackles (108) last season. He also totaled three tackles for loss, a sack, seven pass breakups, a quarterback pressure, a forced fumble, and an interception. Hellams helped the Crimson Tide to two Southeastern Conference Championships in 2020 and 2021. He assisted Alabama to a College Football Playoff National Champioonship in 2020. Hellams earned an Allstate Sugar Bowl victory over Kansas State to finish the 2022 season.
