The past two seasons the Miami Dolphins have made several moves to bolster its roster in order to make a run at a championship. But now it’s all dependent on the health of its quarterback.
Last season Tua Tagovailoa got off to the best start of his career throwing for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns which prompted the Dolphins to pick up his fifth-year option. But Tagovailoa appeared in only 13 games as his career year was cut short due to injuries.
Tagovailoa has a well-documented injury history dating back to his college days at Alabama but the Dolphins remain confident in his abilities as the franchise quarterback.
But there are others around the league who believe the injury cycle may remain with the southpaw as one anonymous NFL executive told The Athletic’s Mike Sando that the offensive line may ultimately doom whichever quarterback is behind center.
“Their whole thing hinges on what they get from the quarterback,” the executive said “They have enough to score points if they have a quarterback who can operate the offense. Their Achilles heel is their offensive line is very limited, and because of it, whoever is standing back there gets hit, and this particular quarterback is not going to hold up.”
Last year the Dolphins has the No. 22 ranked offensive line according to Pro Football Focus, which will need to improve in order for the team to reach its highest potential on offense.
