He took the field for the Detroit Lions for Friday’s practice, but Jahmyr Gibbs will miss Saturday’s rookie minicamp session.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Gibbs suffered a minor tweaked ankle in Friday’s practice. The coaching staff does not see it as anything serious, but they want to be careful with him. Gibbs was the Lions’ first selection of the NFL Draft at No. 12 overall.

He transferred to the University of Alabama in 2022 after his time at Georgia Tech. Gibbs totaled 926 rushing yards, 444 receiving yards, 258 kick return yards, and ten touchdowns for the Crimson Tide. His explosiveness, speed, and versatility propelled the Tide to 11 wins in 2022, including a 45-20 victory over Kansas State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Gibbs’ rookie contract for the Lions is estimated at $17.8 million for four years.
He has a fully guaranteed fifth-year option and a $9.9 million signing bonus.
