AJ McCarron was one of the XFL’s flagship players in its return this season as he was named league MVP for his efforts with the St. Louis Battlehawks.
The next step for McCarron is a return to the NFL where he last appeared in a preseason game in 2021 when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during a preseason game with the Falcons. But if he is unable to make a roster this fall McCarron made it clear that a return to the XFL is certainly on the table.
“Listen, I would like to be back in the (NFL), and I think I’ve shown this year that I can still play at a very high level and lead an offense,” McCarron said during an appearance on the “Springball Boulevard” podcast. “But if it’s not God’s plan, then I have no problem coming back to play in the XFL. I thought it was an unbelievable experience.”
In nine games with the Battlehawks McCarron threw for 2,150 yards, 24 touchdowns and completed 68% of his passes.
