RELATED: Who is Tyler Buchner? Alabama’s new quarterback from Notre Dame
We continue our series with former Notre Dame quarterback, Tyler Buchner.
Tyler Buchner
-Classification: Junior
–Position: Quarterback
-Hometown: San Diego, California
-Height: 6-foot-1
-Weight: 215 pounds
–Summary
Buchner transferred to Alabama, following Notre Dame’s former offensive coordinator, Tommy Rees, to Tuscaloosa.
The California native is expected to compete to be Alabama’s starting quarterback right away, based on his college football experience. Buchner has played in 13 college football games, making him the most experienced quarterback on Alabama’s roster. Nick Saban has stated in the past, the Tide go to the transfer portal, looking for players, who can make an immediate impact, and Buchner could be in line to do so for the Tide.
The former four-star showed he can get it done with his legs and his arms in three games of action last season for the Fighting Irish, finishing the year going 46-for-83 with 652 yards passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns in three games.
Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson are still both right in the thick of things when it comes to Alabama’s quarterback battle but expect Buchner to make a push this summer and fall.
