Mac Jones and new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien have gotten acquainted quickly during the Patriots OTAs this week.
Following a disappointing year for Jones while working with Matt Patricia, O’Brien brings an incomparable background on the offensive side of the football at the NFL level.
One of the main criticisms of the Jones and Patricia offensive era was the inconsistency in production and the apparent lack of continuity on offense.
But with O’Brien in charge, things seem to be going a bit more smoothly as Jones shared that he feels everyone is on the same page thus far.

“It’s been really good. It’s been normal,” Jones said to local media on Wednesday. “I think everything he’s done so far has been really good. I think communication is the most important part and trust. I think it all starts with that when you’re with a new coach and he’s done a great job of controlling the room.

“Feel like everyone’s on the same page. Just gotta continue to do it. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so we know that. He’s obviously had great experience in the NFL and at Alabama where I was at so there’s a lot of stuff that we’ve talked about and just looking forward to working with him.”
Although it’s still early on in the offseason, Jones and O’Brien will need to be firing on all cylinders this fall to compete in an AFC East against the likes of other star quarterbacks Josh Allen, Tua Tagovailoa and now Aaron Rodgers.
