Do the Patriots grab All-Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins for Mac Jones?

Mac Jones (#10) gives a thumbs up for Patriots in matchup versus Texans

We have a union in New England between Mac Jones and Bill O’Brien, but could a reunion form to make the Patriots a serious Super Bowl contender?

Dianna Russini of ESPN reports the Patriots are interested in signing free-agent wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins, a three-time first-team All-Pro receiver, got released by the Arizona Cardinals after three seasons. He totaled 1,000+ receiving yards (1,407, six touchdowns) in 2020 but did not accomplish the feat again in Arizona. Hopkins was a 1,000+ yard receiving option in five of seven years with the Houston Texans. The former first-round pick of the 2013 NFL Draft has plenty of football left in him. New England can provide Jones with a No. 1 option at wide receiver if it can land Hopkins to a contract.

The Patriots made some moves in the offseason by getting JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki, but it needs another piece.

Jones and Hopkins follow each other on Instagram. Hopkins and O’Brien don’t have the greatest relationship going back to their time in Houston together, but maybe both have put the past behind them. If New England gets Hopkins, it is huge for Jones’ growth.
