Alabama football defensive backs, Malachi Moore and Kool-Aid McKinstry were recently named to the Lott Trophy watch list.
The Lott Impact Trophy is awarded annually to the defensive impact player of the year. The player who wins the award makes a big impact on his team both on and off the field as it represents the first college football trophy to give equal weight to personal character as well as athletic performance.

The last Alabama player to win the award was Will Anderson in 2022. Anderson’s head coach, DeMeco Ryans won it in 2005 as a member of the Crimson Tide.
McKinstry will enter the 2023 football season with high expectations. He is considered one of the best cornerbacks in college football, and some feel he has an opportunity to lock up first-round status in the 2024 NFL Draft with a solid year.
Moore returns as a veteran defensive back for the Crimson Tide. A big season could also catapult his draft stock.
