Joseph Ionata chose to commit to Alabama a couple of days after camping and earning an offer from the Crimson Tide.
Ionata is a product of Calvary Christian in Clearwater, Florida. He garner a three-star rating from multiple recruiting sites at the moment, but he is expected to see his recruiting ranking rise in the future.
The rising senior chose Alabama over Miami, Ole Miss, UCF and others Saturday because he felt Alabama’s winning tradition was too much to pass on.
“Alabama is a place where you go out every day and compete against the very best,” Ionata told Touchdown Alabama. “You need to elevate your game to stay productive, and it’s not only the winning atmosphere in the football staff at Alabama but everyone on campus.”
Ionata previously spoke highly of Alabama’s offensive line coach Eric Wolford.
“I believe Coach Wolford is one of the best if not the best offensive line coach and offensive line developer,” said Ionata. “He can develop me into an NFL prospect.”
The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder is a very active offensive lineman, who is always working to find someone to block. He continues to block down the field and has shown the ability to get to the second level when run-blocking. He also blocks well in space and is solid in pass protection.
