Will the Las Vegas Raiders and Josh Jacobs come together on a new contract?
The National Football League can only hope both sides agree.
RELATED: Josh Jacobs returning to his No. 8 from Alabama for the Raiders
Jacobs, a former first-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, has not signed the franchise tender tag from the organization. He would make a little over $10 million on the tag; however, Jacobs did not have the fifth-year option picked up on his rookie contract. He decided to bet on himself, and the Oklahoma native was the best part of the Raiders’ offense in 2022. Jacobs won the league’s rushing championship with 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns on 340 carries. He also totaled 400 receiving yards on 53 catches.
Las Vegas recently lost Derek Carr to the New Orleans Saints, so it is not trying to lose Jacobs too. He has been putting work in the weight room in the offseason. Jacobs is squatting 550 pounds and doing so without any Raiders gear. He is demonstrating his strength and value as a running back. Jacobs made the Pro Bowl and first-team NFL All-Pro for his efforts last season.
