Chuck McDonald III made his first trip to the University of Alabama last week and got a good feel for the program.
McDonald is a 2025 four-star defensive back out of Mater Dei High School in California. He holds more than 20 offers at the moment, including offers from Ohio State, USC and others.
The California product said his visit allowed him to see several elements of the Alabama football program.
“I got to see everything,” McDonald told Touchdown Alabama. “We had a tour guide that toured us around the whole campus. I got to see all the facilities and then got to see the stadium which was getting work done.”

McDonald went on to give his biggest takeaway from the visit.
“Alabama has a winning culture that successfully builds student-athletes to become great on and off the field,” McDonald said.
Multiple members of Alabama’s coaching staff caught up with McDonald during his visit.
“I talked to coach Saban, coach T-Rob, coach Petito, and coach Wiggins,” said McDonald. “It was very surreal talking with coach Saban. He knows everything about the game of football, and I was just really honored to get the opportunity to talk to him and finally meet him.”
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, McDonald fits the bill for what Alabama looks for in long defensive backs. He breaks on the ball with good closing speed and can make tackles close to the line of scrimmage with his anticipation skills. The new Alabama target wants to improve in those areas and perfect his coverage technique.
