The best teams in the Nick Saban era for Alabama football are those who are player-led.
Alabama had off-field and on-field chemistry with its 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2020 teams. All six captured a national championship in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) era and College Football Playoff (CFP) era. Each player from those teams fed off the energy of the teammates. The coaching staff had a game plan players trusted, and the energy from coaches was good.

This year’s team has had several bonding experiences this summer.
Whether it was going to Lake Tuscaloosa with Saban, having paintball gun contests, Top Golf, bowling, or bass fishing, several players have spent time with each other. Will this off-field connection lead to a national title? In a recent segment from In My Own Words, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine explained the significance of team chemistry before the season.
